Thank you, Robertson-Wesley United Church!

Singers from the Vocal Art Studio absolutely loved sharing Sunday afternoon with singers from the Robertson-Wesley United and Knox Metropolitan United choirs. Our hosts were raising funds for their tour to England, while our group continues to slowly feather our scholarship nest. We have several students who will be hard-put to afford the summer program this year -- our audience's generosity is most appreciated!

Exciting start to the new year!

Many of the performers from the studio gathered last Friday evening for a fun studio concert in Muttart Hall at the conservatory on MacDougall Drive. Some of the singers remarked that they had wondered if we would be ready -- many of us are working on new material -- and were gratified that everybody sang just about as well as we ever have!

And thank you VERY much to Faye Cowan, the most generous donor of the evening-- our cup runneth over!

Vocal Art Studio going to high schools

We have gotten together and decided to sing in high schools upon request -- for free! We feel strongly that we want to let young, talented singers know that there is an excellent place to study with international-calibre professionals right here in Edmonton.

We know that a lot of young singers believe that they have to go to a distant school and pay a fortune to start their career as professional singers. Not true! Students from our studio have been accepted into the best international programs, including the Schubert Institut near Vienna and the University of Maryland (one of the best schools for singers).

But hearing is believing, so we will come to your school and sing for you so that you can hear what our teachers and coach have done for us. Just give us a call.   

By the way, our teachers and coach are always happy to let prospective students sit in on some classes so they can see what it's like. If you can't host a concert, call and we will arrange for you to drop in.

We had a wonderful time performing on December 19 to a good sized crowd of Christmas music enthusiasts in St. Albert. Highlights included selections from Handel's Messiah as well as traditional carols. All the singers were very pleased to sing in such a beautiful and resonant space. Special thanks to Mairi-Irene McCormack for her efforts in organizing the event. We raised over $200 for our scholarship fund -- thank you so much!
